Much Ado About Nothing (I Hope)

This post will reek of otaku-ness. Promise. If you're not in the mood for nostalgia from a teen, you'd better stop here.

I remember watching Shakugan no Shana as a youtuber. I remember thanking the uploaders. I remember remembering the recurrent names on the youtube comment boards. I remember clicking the uploader's profile and searching for the videos the said person uploaded. I remember comments that go PEoPle ThAt wAtCh ThIs sHouLD gO OUt MOrE And WatCh MtV tO gEt A LiFE, Fo shizZle.. Then an argument would ensue, cuss words would be used, and then finally, the "soothsayers" comment in; "Why can't we all get along?

Then i remember the mass clean-up of licensed shows, and the Youtubers had to become Veoh-Ers.

Veoh was a welcome breath of freah air. Unlike youtube, the video was presented in a whole form, as opposed to youtube's breaking the show down into 3 pieces. It also gave the option of giving the commenters proper avatars.

Then there was another mass clean up, and i was forced to take refuge @ crunchyroll.

Crunchyroll makes up with quantity what it lacks in quality. In exchange for a pretty organized search network, the quality was considerably lessened. The only problem here is the comment board. There are just too many commenters, it's a hassle to CTRL-F your own comments.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I feel old. As in real old. The shows that were popular with us two years ago are now beyond popular; they're enormous. Back then, we felt that we were, in a sense, leading the way. I mean, we were sort of lucky to catch up in the fad back then; the anime uploading and all of that stuff. It was therapeutic. After a hard day, it was the chance to kick back and let the kid inside out. If i were to estimate a number,we were a few thousands, i guess.

But now...

I just don't want the whole EMO issue become the ANIME issue. I'm guessing you probably know how it is - back when emo wasn't all the hype, it was simply a word that described a kind of music. People even found being one cute.

But when the word emo changed into EMO, more conditions were placed. If you were one, you would immediately be branded as suicidal. If you weren't, you would be branded as uncool. If you told people that you didn't care about how they think, you would be an arrogant piece of crap or EMO itself.

In various forums, people discuss about the pros and cons of EMO. Then someone would make a bad comment, cuss at everybody and boom. Another heated argument is born.

All because emo got popular. Then people realized that it was akin to suicide, made a 180 turn, and began dissing people that still liked the sound.

I don't want that to happen to anime. I don't want it to be smothered in politics.

But i guess it's can't be helped. I already saw Bleach and Prince ot Tennis notebooks at the mall. Besides, i don't own the companies, i can't convince people to stop watching the good shows, and i sure as hell resolve not to stop them from watching the good stuff.

Maybe this is for the better. Who knows? Personally, i think the people from the anime cultural bracket are more responsible.

There's still hope yet, and i always try to believe in the optimum possibility.

About the one that you wrote between emo and anime, I totally agree with you!! XD

Emos are stupid and narrow-minded. They're one of the worst trashes of our society. They're such bastards and bitches~! (Anti-emo mode... Xencya na... LOL!! :P)

And the only connection I see with emo and anime is that, most emos, especially in America, are also otakus.

(And to RB (DreamingHeroic), "Otaku" means enthusiast in Japanese. But it is mostly referred to people who really love anime. Take Daryl as an example ^^)
