My mom has this Philhealth card, the ones that allow you to have consultations, basic services and some procedure works for Free. So after much persuading on her part, i went to see a dermatologist a few weeks back. There i learned that one of the free lab procedures, aside from the consultation, were wart-removal. Out of curiosity, i decided to take part. Turns out, there was a whole bulk of requirements needed, so i only got to have the actual procedure done today.
Doctor: "Okay, asan na ba ung mga gamot? Dala mo ba ung anesthesia?"
Me: Opo, dala ko po. Ano po ung anesthesia?
Doctor: Anesthesia, to numb the pain from burning the warts. Akin na dali at mahiga ka na sa mesa.
It was at that instant that my warning bells kicked in. Anesthesia? Burning?!
After waiting for an hour for the anesthesia to kick in, the procedure itself was administered. It involved literally burning the warts, which, by the way, is viral. Meaning, i got it from some stupid person. No, don't ask me how.
So anyway, for the rest of the hour, i was flat on my back while a stranger was burning my back 23 times.
I tell you, it is not a pleasant experience. Even with the anesthesia on, it still hurts. Freaky doctor even got the nerve to tell me that the anesthesia wasn't supposed to nullify the pain 100% as she was already burning my back. Well, thanks for telling me in advance. Yes, i am being sarcastic.
Yeah, once or twice is an okay, yeah experience. Thrice is irritating. Any higher than that, and you'd like to drop the whole operation altogether.
And that's how i spent my Friday morning - in pain.

Today, i grabbed a copy of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. Can't wait to read it. :D I also found a copy of E.A. Poe's Tell Tale Heart and Gaiman's Stardust and American Gods.
It was tempting. I spent three hours standing, deciding on what to buy. Yargh.
